about

Becca has a cumulative 10+ years in non-clinical care work, focusing on advocacy and service delivery to older adults and adults with disabilities. Becca enjoys creating systems, programs and activities that foster wellbeing, including care planning and life enrichment, as well as organizational process improvement.

Over their years working in long-term care, Becca has recognized a need for tools, education and outreach in order to prepare adults and their care partners for the transition to supported living. Becca finds purpose in helping folks prepare for the bureaucratic requirements that hinder fast and easy transitions to formal care services when it matters most.

Becca is also passionate about creating and offering affordable, community-centered, activity programming. Becca aims to promote the cultural values of community care, and dispel the fear and shame surrounding aging, disability and death. Becca loves integrating isolated seniors back into the broader community, facilitating intergenerational events, and serving as a resource for families and informal care partners.

Education

Becca received their Bachelor's degree in Health Studies: Community Health Education through the School of Public Health from OHSU and Portland State University.

This degree falls under the umbrella of Public Health and focuses on identifying and addressing socio-economic disparities and other challenges that impact communities. In doing so, the goal is to improve the overall wellbeing of individuals within that community, which improves the wellbeing of the community as a whole. Through proven methods such as program development and implementation, social marketing, and community engagement, communities experiencing inequities are given the resources and support they need to thrive. Health Educators utilize organizational, interpersonal and management skills to connect communities to community resources, collaborate and propose community resources when there are none, and operate community-based organizations.
